Since 1853, Blüthner pianos have been expertly crafted in Leipzig, Germany. The Blüthner family, renowned for their craftsmanship and entrepreneurial spirit, continues to lead the firm, personally overseeing the production of every piano that bears their name.

Blüthner’s story begins in the vibrant cultural centre of Leipzig, where Julius Blüthner established his workshop after gaining citizenship in 1853. His innovations - such as the aliquot string and a cylindrical soundboard—gave the instruments a distinctive voice. Within decades, Blüthner earned royal warrants and supplied courts across Europe. Renowned artists including Mahler, Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky visited the factory and composed on Blüthner pianos.
